But I certainly wouldn't put it past them! Right now Jonathan Coulton still seems to be "off-line" about his case, presumably until there is some legal resolution.Paul R. I had heard a similar arrangement and when I looked it up, the Glee arrangement is identical to the one by Gavin Mikhail. Caleb, do you know if Gavin was paid for the use of his arrangement? And no doubt in a far better studio than the hallway in JoCo's apartment! I seem to recall his home studio got converted to a nursery when his daughter arrived: he was still recording in the hallway in 2009.

Heck, by now I think Caleb, Paul and the other contributors have probably spent more time and effort figuring out what Glee have done than Jonathan spent recording the original.

In some ways it's a compliment to Jonathan's talent as an engineer and a guitarist. Not in the way that counts, obviously.Mike Dimmickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05742167175227840320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21054185.post-38886196084230549782013-01-28T11:53:33.066-05:002013-01-28T11:53:33.066-05:00This is just amazing. While my original theory was that it was added to solidify the correlation between video and audio, this doesn't seem to be the case, since the section in question didn't make it into the video.

My current theory is that the string squeak was just added to make the track sound different. Probably to cover over a section that isn't already covered by new vocals (which is why I was trying to listen to that spot in the first place, and how I found it).

Very fascinating.Calebhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12780350134890855224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21054185.post-41566768787156534492013-01-28T10:20:49.522-05:002013-01-28T10:20:49.522-05:00You're a freakin' genius!
